Seed Starting

During January, thoughts might turn to what will we plant in the garden this year? Vegetables? Perennials? Shrubs and Trees? If last year was any indication, vegetable plants of all types were in great demand. We sold out of our seed by April, a first in 30 years of selling seeds. People are already buying seeds with the idea that a shortage could occur again this year. To be sure you get the varieties of plants you want, it would be wise to buy them as soon as possible. Don’t wait till Spring! The seed will be fine if you keep it dry.

We carry Renee’s Seeds, a northern California company that only offers non-GMO varieties that are very special for home gardeners, based on great flavor, easy culture, and exceptional garden performance.

Do you need to buy seed to have a vegetable garden? Not necessarily! We carry vegetable plants that have been pre-sprouted and grown to a size appropriate for planting. Some plants like tomatoes and peppers are harder for some to germinate from seed, so they always buy the already started plants.
